Dates: October 24-26, 2026
Location: The Lake House on Lake Cameron, Erskine, Minnesota
The Experience:
What if you gave yourself three days
to step away from the rush and noise of everyday living and simply create?
Come away with me to The Lake House on beautiful Lake Cameron for three days of painting, creativity, conversation, connection—and space to breathe. Arrive Thursday after 4:00 PM and settle in before our retreat experience begins. We’ll be togehter through Sunday at 2:00 PM.
This is not about knowing how to paint or creating the “right” painting.
Through the intuitive process of Portal Painting, I’ll gently guide you beyond thinking about what you should create and into the experience of allowing your painting to unfold. Layer by layer, color by color, you’ll create a large Portal Painting that is entirely your own.
And somewhere in the process, you may discover that you’ve created more than a painting.
You’ve made room to hear yourself again.
Come as you are.
No painting experience is required. You don’t even need to consider yourself an artist.
This retreat is for you if you hear the call to enter sacred space, slow down, create freely, and reconnect with parts of yourself that can so easily become lost beneath the pace of everyday life.
We’ll paint together in the spacious upstairs gathering area of The Lake House, but you won’t be expected to sit in front of your canvas all day.
Step away when you need to. Wander outside. Sit beside Lake Cameron. Curl up somewhere quiet. Have a conversation. Make yourself a cup of something warm. Return to your painting when you’re ready.
There will be time for creating and connecting—and room for solitude and reflection.
Find your own happy place.
The Portal Painting Experience
Portal Painting is an intuitive, layered painting process. Rather than beginning with a predetermined image and trying to reproduce it, you’ll be invited to listen, respond, and allow your painting to reveal itself as you work.
I’ll guide you through the process, offer demonstrations and support, and help you through those inevitable moments when you wonder, What now?
But the painting will be yours.
There is no need to compare your work to anyone else’s. Ten women can begin in the same room with the same invitation and create ten completely different paintings.
That’s part of the magic.
Over the course of our time together, your large canvas will develop layer upon layer—color, texture, marks, imagery, and whatever else wants to emerge.
No experience required. Curiosity is enough.
Limited to 10 Women allowing for wonderful conversation, shared meals, and the energy that happens when we create together—while still leaving plenty of room to spread out, breathe, and disappear into our own creative worlds for a while.
The Lake House gives us a wonderful combination of shared gathering spaces, quiet corners, a huge upstairs creative area, and Lake Cameron just outside.
